- Knowledge on plants and their uses, birds, history, sport and a multitude of other mountain-specific topics.

- Kit advice for ‘newbies’, from socks to basic emergency kit.

- Tuition on how to navigate with a map and compass.

- Emergency awareness and ‘essential’ first aid, combined with emergency procedures if it all goes wrong.

- Current location maps, grid reference calculators, magnetic declination algorithms, and constantly updated sunset times.

- Contains over 100,000 words and 370 photographs!

Mountain Steps UK is built with the knowledge of more than 40 years of combined experience, extensive training, and teaching others to enjoy themselves in a safe and responsible manner. The ethos of responsibility is why we’ve provided tuition on how to use a map and compass and guidance on being suitably equipped on the hill. It’s not our aim for you to become reliant on this useful tool, but to help you learn by it and enjoy the mountains as much as we do.

All mountain walkers owe a debt of gratitude to the Mountain Rescue services for their voluntary emergency support. For that reason 10% of the profits from this application will be donated to Mountain Rescue.
